RAILDATE - your free weekly guide to what's happening, what's new and what's on

BOOK NEWS

2020 marks 180 years since the opening of the London & Southampton Railway, and to mark the occasion, a celebration was to have been held at Micheldever Station last May.  However, Covid-19 intervened, so the celebrations were abandoned - hopefully only postponed until next year.  In connection with the event, a small booklet has been produced to tell the story of the first 180 years of the railway at Micheldever.  With the intriguing title "Parson & Prawns" (a reference to a disparaging remark about the potential traffic on the line by an early opponent) the book is now available.

If you are local, you can buy copies from:
The Dove Inn, Micheldever Station
The North Brook, East Stratton
The Half Moon & Spread Eagle, Micheldever
The Wonston Arms, Wonston
The Dever Stores, Sutton Scotney
The Post Office, South Wonston
Micheldever Railway Station (6.30-9.30am)
Micheldever Tyre and Auto Services, Micheldever Station.

If you are unable to buy it in person, contact Sue Bell: suebell0906@gmail.com

"Parsons & Prawns" by Peter L Clarke
40 pages illustrated with colour and black & white photographs.
£10.00 including post and packing (UK only).
